A daily performance project by Nadia Vadori-Gauthier

Dance 824 - 16 April 2017

11:30 a.m., International University Campus, Paris 14th. I am sick of seeing, that still in this day, the are sexist, homophobic, or racist discriminatory statements. I heard this week, that there is a concentration camp for homosexuals in Chechnya, with tortures, suicides, executions… In Paris, a transgender activist has been attacked in front of the LGBT Center. How can it be possible to remain in this situation ? I sometimes have the dizzying impression that humanity won’t succeed in getting out of that thick and brutal stupidity, that it blindly replays the worse episodes of it’s history. Today, this kind of discrimination is unbearable. What stands out for me from my reading of Deleuze is this fundamental affirmation : « Difference comes first ». Within life, within the living, there is only difference ; no model to the copy. Involved in a process of becoming , one differs from itself at each instant. The racist and nationalist upsurge with which we have to deal is nourished by fear and hate of the other, in reference to a fixed « self », predetermined as norm. It’s a logic of death. Staying alive : together and different *** Thank you to D & D***
