Dance 2745 - 20 July 2022

1:25 p.m., Paimpont forest, Ille-et-Vilaine.

Dancing with Marie at the foot of the Golden Tree in Brocéliande. This work located in the Val sans Retour, was created to celebrate the renewal of the forest following the two devastating fires of September 1990. The following year, the association for the preservation of the Val sans Retour, helped by thousands of volunteers, replanted more than 500,000 trees in Paimpont.

L’Arbre d’Or, is created by the sculptor François Davin. The artist chose this tree in the heart of an area of small raised stones, whose silhouette recalls the antlers of a deer, lord of the animals of the forest. The charred tree is covered with 5,000 gold leaves. Surrounded by five blackened oaks, it symbolizes the fragile and precious character of the woods.

Today, following the fires that threaten our most beautiful forests, we came to dance here, to express our solidarity, and pay homage to woods.
