Dancing with Pauline, at dawn, in the fountain, at the feet of “Daphne changed into laurels”, sculpted by Jules Dercheu. The statue returned to Saint-Etienne on May 8, 80 years later after being melted during the Second World War: during the occupation of France by the Nazis, the Vichy government promulgated a law on October 11, 1941 which required the dismantling of statues from their bases and their casting.
