Dance 1562 - 24 April 2019

12:09 p.m., EPSM Flanders (Public Institution of Mental Health), Bailleul, Hauts-de-France. Dancing with Jeanne in the D9, former nursing home said of  « Epileptics », disused for thirty years. At the beginning of the 20th century, this hospital was reserved for women. It was the largest psychiatric hospital in Europe. It hosted about 1800 patients. Some were enclosed here for a lifetime.

I am in Bailleul in the frame of a project “Dance at the Hospital” supported by the Regional Health Agency of Hauts-de-France.

This morning, I have been dancing with Thierry Vandersluys, Jeanne Alechinsky and Justine Wisznia, at P4, SAS (Alternative Hospitality Specialized Structure) which welcomes residents from 40 to 82 years old. This afternoon we will dance at G2 and G3, other hospital unit. The project involves creating a relationship with hospitalized people through dance. We do not film these moments, but they are intense and they dance in our hearts.
